Hoping someone with towing experience can chime in. I have a 2014 Mitsubishi Pajero 3.8L that I use to tow a small fishing boat, maybe 1500 kg total including the trailer. The car drives fine when it's empty, but when I hook up the trailer, the rear end sags significantly, almost to the bump stops. The headlights point up at the sky and the steering feels light. I've already installed heavier duty rear coils, but the sagging is still there. A friend suggested that the rear shock absorbers might be completely worn out and unable to control the extra weight, causing the car to squat more than it should. I found a shop that does
master Mitsubishi repair at 800Sayara Sharjah and they mentioned that worn shocks can cause excessive sag because they don't provide any rebound damping to help support the weight. Has anyone here experienced excessive sag while towing with their Pajero or Montero and fixed it with new rear shocks? I'm looking at heavy duty shock options but I don't want to waste money if the problem is actually the springs. Any real world towing advice would be hugely appreciated. Thanks.
